Glastonbury High School Scholarships
Alyssa Drury has played field hockey and lacrosse all throughout high school. Her freshman year she made the JV field hockey team. She then spent the entire winter conditioning for the upcoming lacrosse season, which earned her a spot on the varsity team. She went on to becoming the captain of the varsity field hockey and leading her team to a 16-2-1 season. Although she wasn’t the captain for the lacrosse team she still was a leader regardless of the title. She has also inspired her younger brother to put forth the effort required to reach his full potential. Alyssa will be attending Northeastern University with a major in psychology.
Allison Pease has been the captain of the JV and varsity volleyball team as well as the golf team. She has led both these by developing and maintaining a sense of cooperation and trust amongst her teammates and her coaches. She has always been willing to put forth that extra effort to bring forth the best of her teammates’ abilities. She has also been a recreational youth soccer referee. This gave her another opportunity to demonstrate her leadership qualities. Allison demonstrates her level of influence by teaching sixth-graders the dangers of drug abuse as a D.A.R.E Role Model. Allison will be attending Yale University with majors in Biology and Philosophy. Scott Peters has been a member of the football, lacrosse, and swim team all throughout high school he made varsity for all three sports. His senior year the varsity football team won in the Connecticut State LL Championship, he was awarded All Conference Defensive End, Academic All Conference, and All Hartford Courant Defensive End Honorable Mention. For the swim team he was named the captain his senior year and was awarded All Conference Freestyle Relay, Academic All Conference, LL Finalist, the State Open Finalist and was a state finalist sophomore and junior year. Scott has also made contributions to the youth Glastonbury teams as an assistant coach. He is also a swim instructor and an active member of the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury. He will be attending Springfield College with a major in Education. RHAM High School Scholarship Adam Phelps joined Special Olympics in 8th grade. It gave him the opportunity to teach those who were slower or more incapable of learning; he did this through friendship and bonding. Adam states that is the way it works in Special Olympics, you blend like a family. When the athletes feel good about themselves that is when Adam feels great. Adam is involved in his church, The Church of the Holy Family where he is a member of TNT teen group, an assistant teacher for religious education and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Adam is a recipient of the Presidents volunteers award and a member of the national honors society. Adam plans to attend Eastern Connecticut State University and double major in Primary Education and English.
